Cougared.com is a website that was created strictly for the use of younger men looking for older women. In the years since it was created it has become quite a popular site and in this article I’d like to give you not only my personal experience of using this site, but also some of the things you may want to know before deciding on whether or not this site is for you.

A little about myself; I was a youngish man (late twenties) that had always had a thing for older women. I’d never really had the opportunity to meet the women I knew I had a liking for, so I decided to look online. There were many sites out there that catered to what I was looking for, but in the end, I decided to go with Cougared.com. I was and am still very happy with what I found on the site; having met and had many some amazing times with women that I thought would remain only in my dreams. In the following article, I’ll try to give you an unbiased opinion of what I found when using Cougared.com

Overview

First of all this site isn’t for everyone, but if you are a young man or older women that has an interest in meeting young men or older women, then ‘yes’ this site is definitely worth checking out. It has a huge database of profiles of both men and women all looking for the same type of encounters as you.

How Does Cougared Work?

They are “free-to-use”, which is true to an extent. They have a user-base of people all over the world, so you’ll be able to get your needs met. Along with sending messages to the people you’re interested in, you can send them “winks” too.

Please note the part where it says ‘100 per cent free to use, no hidden costs’ as although this is true and you can use their site for free, what they don’t tell you is that in order to fully appreciate what they have to offer, I would personally advise you to pay the small sign-up fee that they have available as this gives you so many more options to browse, chat and meet with the women or men on the site. Although the free option was great for me at first, I quickly found that I met women that I wanted to have unlimited chats with.

Getting started whether you want to use the free site or the paid site you are asked to provide them with a few details including your name, an email, password and then a little about what it is you are looking for. This is a great section as you have the option to let them know if you are looking for a relationship, fun times or anything in the middle.

You are also asked to provide a profile picture. At first I was quite skeptical about the site, so for my own safety I didn’t give them a picture of my face. However, having used the site for a while I realized that putting a profile picture of my face was safe and also gave me a better chance of finding what it was that I was looking for.

Having entered in all of the details you feel comfortable with entering, you are ready to go and free to browse the many members they have both online and not. This is a great chance to get used to the way the website works and get an idea of how you will continue your search.

Privacy Verification & Safety

If you choose to upgrade your membership then you also have the option of discreet billing which for me I found very appealing as I lived in a house with other people that at the time I’d rather them not know what I was doing in my free time. Another great feature I found useful on their site was the blocking option, as although Cougared have tried to stop scammers from joining their site there are some there and using the tips I found on their site I was able to spot them, block them and then I proceeded to report them, which is something I’d advise anyone to do that encounters one of these people as once I did they were quickly removed from the site.

I noticed that they promise thorough user screening. This is great since users are verified for their authenticity, and you can interact with real people. That being said, Cougared may not be doing such a good job, or they are lying about it. You’ll find a plethora of bots on the site. A lot of them try and scam you.

Speaking of fake accounts, you’ll notice that their FAQ page has a section on how to identify them. Considering that there are so many of them, you need to read it.

I didn’t find the site very safe. When it comes to dating platforms, whether they’re apps or not, you need to ensure that there are encryptions in place. When you scan through them, you’ll see no proof of a lock. This is alarming as hackers aren’t kept away.

You’ve probably heard of Ashley Madison. They’re a major name in the dating game. Unfortunately, their site was hacked by a group that didn’t approve of enabling extramarital affairs. If such a major name with military encryption was hijacked, Cougared.com is at risk too. This is especially scary as they allow you to post a range of sensitive information.   

We didn’t touch on their privacy policy yet. I was disappointed by how lackluster it was. You need thorough information on what they do to your data as they could sell it. Having a good policy also ensures that you know the values they stand for, making them transparent. However, not only is their policy limited, but we found it hard to read, as well. This is a major issue in our books.

Something you should keep in mind is that the platform hasn’t been updated in over 5 years. I noticed that it looked rather dated, so when I did some research, I found that nothing had been changed since 2015. So, not only is their privacy policy lacking, but it doesn’t reflect what they do to your data either.

Interface & Communication Features

If like me you are quite a shy person then engaging with someone that you are really attracted to can be quite a daunting prospect. They have a cool feature on their site which is called the ‘wink system’ and it works much like a ‘like’ which made things a lot easier for someone like myself. At first I would simply wait for a ‘wink’ and when I did get a one, I would usually begin a chat with them using the messaging function. Although I’d usually leave quite a generic one-liner, I quickly found I was chatting away with them quite comfortably. After a while of using the site I found my confidence grew and I began searching for women I liked, this was made so much easier with the detailed searching options that are available on this site.

Unfortunately, they don’t have an app. This is disappointing as it’s 2021 and people spend most of their time on hand-held devices. There are no talks about a mobile app being released. I don’t think their site works well on mobile browsers since it’s pretty dated.

Price & Payments

As you know, the site is free to use. You’ll be chatting with cubs and cougars for free. However, I got a paid membership to access more features. When you go through the site, it might take a while to find out their exact prices.

When making payments, there is a verified portal to do so. It’s secure, so you don’t have to worry about your credit card details falling into the wrong hands.

One of the perks of paying for accounts is that you won’t be hit with ads. Cougared.com has quite a few, sadly.

Customer Service

Don’t expect good customer service. To begin with, you can only reach out by filling a contact form on their site. It requires your email address, name, and the problem you have, which saves you time. However, it took a representative very long to get back to us. I got a reply back in almost a week.

They also have unhelpful representatives who did not speak fluent English. Some users have reported that the support member who got back to them was rude, and we have no reason to doubt them.

You don’t get a call center. This is a shame as you would’ve gotten almost immediate results. Know that Cougared.com’s competitors offer the service.

If you want quick help, you can head on to their FAQ Page. However, there wasn’t a good array of issues solved. The answers were not bad but they weren’t the easiest to read. The site could’ve been a bit more concise.

To know what you’re getting into, they offer a Tour option. It isn’t an interactive view of their platform. It’s just a write-up of everything you can do on the site.

Account Deletion

To close your account, the process does not take long. You can head on to their FAQ page to get a full run-down of how it works. They’ve worded it fairly well, so you won’t find it confusing.

All you need to do is go to your account settings, find the Cancel Account feature and go ahead with it. Once you’re done, your account is removed from the site for good. You won’t be able to retrieve anything you’ve sent or received. No, you won’t be charged for it.

You can’t deactivate it. Deactivating is great when you just need a break from the site – it’ll ‘hide’ your profile, reactivating it when you log back in.

If you’re wondering whether you can use the same email to create a new account, the answer is no.

Now that we’ve run through everything you should know, let’s compare their pros and cons. This will help you know if they’re worth the time or not.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve read the article so far then you will have gathered that I am not the biggest fan of the site. I did not have the best time on it, and this is an experience many users share. The site is dated, so it does not look good. As it’s so old, it’s slow, which means you won’t find it easy to interact with older women.

They say they’re ‘free to use’, which is true to an extent. But there are so many ads that you’ll want to pay. The fact that they aren’t the most encrypted is an issue too.

There are better, more up-to-date alternatives such as Meet-a-milf.com that have much faster loading times and a top tier design system.
